The Lancaster Bureau of Police has contracted with several other entities during the last 34 years for police coverage. Most of the coverage is supplemental to pre-existing police coverage with the exception of Lancaster Township. Contracted services gives the Bureau of Police the extra manpower it needs to allow for more directed patrols and crime solving.
