The duty of the Housing Authority is to ensure a healthy living environment for low-income persons through decent, affordable housing. Originally established in 1946 to build and administer the Hickory Tree Heights (now called Clermont) project, the Lancaster City Housing Authority is responsible for developing and administering public housing, with the current emphasis on scattered-site housing. The Authority also administers federal housing assistance programs. The Authority meets the third Tuesday of each month at 5:00 PM at the Authority’s offices, 333 Church Street. For additional information, call 717-397-2835.
Since 1993, the LCHA has contracted police services through the Lancaster Bureau of Police. Currently one officer is assigned to perform supplemental community policing within LCHA properties. When on duty, the officer is the primary responder for all police services. Non-emergency services within LCHA can be referred to the officer as needed. Officer Pete Schmidt |
