Mission:

It is the ongoing objective of the mounted horse patrol of the Lancaster Bureau of Police to provide the downtown business district and surrounding neighborhoods with a unique, functional and highly-visible presence in deterring crime and making our city a better and safer place in which to live, work and play.

• Initiated in 1979, the Mounted Patrol currently consists of two riders with three horses. While mounted officers perform all of the same duties as patrol officers, it has been found that they have special capabilities in crowd control and traffic enforcement.
