Squad Car  Mounted  Motorcycle  Bicycle  K-9

Over the past 100 years, police cars have evolved from stock passenger cars to modern high performance vehicles specially equipped for the high standards and demands of law enforcement.

Currently, the Lancaster Bureau of Police maintains a fleet of vehicles, each equipped for the needs of the officers who drive them. Patrol Officers drive Ford Crown Victorias equipped with high performance engines and a special suspension package that allows the officer to quickly and safely respond to emergency calls and catch criminals.   Each of the cars is equipped with a police radio, a cage for criminals, a computer, and an assortment of special tools. The Department also uses 4X4 Jeeps and Dodge Durangos to help officers drive through snow and bad terrain. An assortment of other vehicles is used to assist Detectives, civilians, and support staff with individual needs.
