Violent and Gang Crime Unit headed by Det. Lt. Kent Switzer and Det. Sgt. John Burkart. The Unit is currently staffed with 9 investigators including Lt. Switzer and Sgt. Burkart. One investigator from this unit is assigned to work with the Bureau's Selective Enforcement Unit. This Unit investigates all crimes of a violent nature and any crime committed with a firearm or believed to have been committed by a street gang member. Three members of this unit also work with "Project Safe Neighborhoods", a Federal initiative aimed at reducing gun violence.
