REQUIREMENTS:

1. Ability to pass:
1. Physical ability Test
2. Reading and comprehension test (only for those who pass the physical ability exam)
3. Oral interview (only for those who pass the reading and comprehension exam).
2. Ability to pass a medical examination (i.e., no major or minor defects).
3. Weight in proportion to height.
4. Vision – Standard for vision is based on MPOETC requirements.
5. Candidate must successfully pass an extensive background investigation. Conviction of a Felony WILL bar appointment; a Misdemeanor MAY bar appointment.
6. Candidate must pass a psychological evaluation.
7. Candidate must consent to a polygraph examination prior to appointment to the Bureau.
8. All City employees must undergo a drug test.
9. Candidate must pass an oral interview with the Bureau Staff.
10. Applicant must possess a valid Pennsylvania Operator’s License at the time of appointment.
11. Within three months of hire, officer must reside in Lancaster County or within a thirteen-mile radius of Penn Square.
