Lancaster City Police Detective Sergeant Brad Anderson has been appointed a Regional Director for the North East Regional Chapter of the International Association of Auto Theft Investigators (NE-IAATI).  In an appointment letter to Chief Heim, John V. Abounader, NE-IAATI 1st Vice President said:

It gives me great pleasure to inform you that Detective Brad Anderson has been appointed a Regional Director for the North East Regional Chapter of the International Association of Auto Theft Investigators (NE-IAATI).

Brad will be an integral part of NE-IAATI and its seminars, which provides training to our membership. I look forward to working directly with Detective Anderson during the coming year, as does the entire NE-IAATI Executive Board.

On behalf of NE-IAATI’s 1105 members, I take this opportunity to extend my gratitude to you and the Lancaster Police Department as a whole for supporting NE-IAATI’s objectives and purposes. It is through the assistance of the employers of our members that our endeavors are successful and recognized globally.

The International Association of Auto Theft Investigators (IAATI) was formed in 1952 in order to improve communication and coordination among the growing family of professional auto theft investigators. It has grown to 3,964 members representing over 35 countries and includes representatives of law enforcement agencies, as well as many others with a legitimate interest in auto theft investigation, prevention and education. We recognize that, just as law enforcement agencies cannot successfully function independent of one another, auto theft investigation requires the active participation of the private sector; therefore, our membership also includes the insurance industry, automobile manufacturers, car rental companies and, of course, the National Insurance Crime Bureau and its sister agencies in Canada and Europe.

The NE-IAATI was formed and received its charter from IAATI in 1972. The founding charter members in their wisdom saw the present and future need of an organization which would serve those persons involved in the field of vehicle theft investigation in the northeastern USA and the eastern part of Canada. The high population density and the proximity to the Canadian border dictated the need for setting up of a separate chapter to handle the unique problems prevalent in this geographical area of the North American continent.
