The Lancaster City Police Selective Enforcement Unit working with the Street Operations Group conducted an operation that targeted street level drug dealers in the southwest area of the city. During this operation, Police arrested five people. Two had sold to undercover police officers. Despite Tuesday evening’s intermitted rain and strong winds several drug dealers were still apparently conducting business. Two dealers made contact with the undercover police officer during one of Tuesday evening’s rain storms. Despite the weather Deangelo Hatton; B/M/41, spoke to the undercover officer just off his apartment building’s front stoop where he had been standing for a period of time. Eventually, even the “criminal minded” individuals become soaked and ended the “meeting” inside his apartment by delivering cocaine to the officer. Uniformed officers found Hatton, a little damp, hiding in the apartment’s small bathroom. He was pretending he had to use the bathroom while a second male was also hiding in the bathroom’s shower area although this second individual was dry. He was not involved in the drug activity but was also taken into custody for a warrant through the Lancaster County Sheriff’s department. Two additional individuals were located in the small apartment, both of these individuals were wanted. One on another Lancaster County Bench warrant, the other on four local summary warrants. The Selective Enforcement Unit encourages residents to continue to report illegal drug activity that is occuring in their neighborhoods.
