Shortly after 1 pm on June 7th, 2012, Officer Michael Dean of the Lancaster City Police investigated a child struck by a vehicle in the 300 block of Ice Ave. A 5 year-old child crossing the street was struck by a blue Jeep. The occupants of the Jeep, a male driver and a pregnant female passenger, both got out of the vehicle and saw that the child was injured. Both occupants remained at the scene briefly and then got back in the vehicle and left.
On 9 June 2012, at approx. 12:39 AM, Lancaster City Police officers were dispatched to the 1st block of E. Andrew Street for a reported stabbing. While enroute to the scene, Lancaster Countywide Communications broadcast a description of the suspect and relayed that he was last seen going north on Queen Street. Officers immediately began checking the area for the suspect, while other officers from Platoon B responded to the stabbing scene. Officers found a 19 year old Lancaster man, at the front of 10 E. Andrew Street. The victim was suffering from multiple stab wounds and lacerations of the side, back and neck. The victim was immediately taken to an area hospital by EMS (Emergency Medical Services) for treatment and underwent surgery for his injuries. The victim is currently listed in critical condition.
On the evening of June 4th Officer JD Williams of the Lancaster Bureau of Police responded to Lancaster Regional Medical Center for a report of an injured infant. Upon arrival, Off. Williams spoke to medical personnel and family members and learned that the injured infant, a baby boy who was approximately 7 weeks old, was being transferred to Hershey Medical Center for numerous rib fractures and possibly other injuries.
On 6 June 2012, at approx. 11:19 PM, Lancaster City Police officers were dispatched to the 600 block of East End Ave for a shooting. While enroute, the officers were advised that there were two shooting victims at the scene. Patrol officers from Platoon A responded to the area of East End Ave and Stevens Ave and located two victims, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported by EMS to an area hospital for treatment. The one victim, a 37 year old Lancaster man, suffered apparent gunshot wounds to the torso and upper leg. The second victim, also a 37 year old Lancaster man, suffered a minor head injury, which may have been a graze wound. The second victim was treated for the minor head injury and was released. He was arrested by City police on an unrelated, outstanding bench warrant and was transported to the Lancaster City Police station.
Shortly after 4:00 pm, Wednesday, June 6th Officers of the Lancaster Bureau of Police were dispatched to Long’s Park for a report of a 15 year old being shot in the arm and it was relayed that the victim was being conveyed to the hospital in a private vehicle. Officers went to both Long’s Park and the hospital, where the victim, a 15 year old Lancaster Twp teenager was being treated for a gunshot wound to the area of his right wrist/lower part of his arm.
Shortly after 2:00 am this morning, Officers were in the 1st Blk. of S. Prince Street, observing a large group of people leaving a bar in the area. An individual who standing in the area of King Street and Prince Street got the attention of the officers and directed them to a group of people who were about to fight in the 1st Blk. W. King Street. This individual informed the officers that one of the subjects had a gun and provided a description of the armed suspect. The officers observed two groups of people milling around the area and then observed the suspect that was supposed to be armed. The officers approached this subject and attempted to stop him, but he failed to obey their commands and attempted to flee from the officers on foot.
