Week of April 29, 2013

BURGLARY/ARSON

 

On March 29, 2013 at 5:10am, West Hempfield Township Police were dispatched to 3885 Columbia Avenue for a business fire. The fire was in the former Yorgey’s and Fillings Dry Cleaning building. The business has been relocated for many years, however, the rear of the building was rented out by a local man. It had been utilized as an antique furniture refinishing shop.

During the overnight hours of March 29

, 2013 an unknown person(s) forced their way into the building and stole numerous pieces of carpentry equipment. The equipment included table saws, a drill press, grinders and numerous hand tools valued at $5,000. Additionally, the building was set on fire causing approximately $45,000 in damage to the property inside.
