10.09.12 Gun Arrest

Shortly after 9:00 p.m. last night (10/8/12) Lancaster City Police received information from the Lancaster County Crime Stoppers Text a Tip program that a male suspect, later identified as Robert Edward JOHNSON, was armed with a stolen handgun and riding in a tan Kia Sephia. Officers located this vehicle in the 1st block of E. Walnut St. and initiated a traffic stop. When the vehicle stopped, Johnson immediately exited the front passenger seat and attempted to flee on foot. Lancaster City Police K-9 Officer Leo quickly assisted in apprehending Johnson. Officers located a .45 caliber handgun in the passenger side door area of the vehicle. It was discovered that this handgun had been reported stolen to the East Lampeter Police Department on October 5th, 2012. Additionally, Johnson does not have a license to lawfully carry a concealed firearm. Johnson was found to be in possession of a small bag of marijuana. Johnson was charged by Off. Anthony Weaver with Firearms not to be Carried Without a License, Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of a Small Amount of Marijuana before MDJ Janice Jimenez. Johnson was treated for a bite wound to his upper arm. He was arraigned and committed to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $25,000.00 bail.
