10.18.13 Arrest in Stabbing Incident

At approximately 3:16 a.m. September 1, 2013, Officers from the Lancaster Bureau of Police responded to the Lancaster General Hospital regarding a stabbing victim that had just arrived there for treatment. The victim is a 49-year-old city resident and he was stabbed in the abdomen area of his body. Officers were able to speak with the victim briefly before he went into surgery. It is likely that this assault took place on S. Marshall Street in the City. The victim’s condition is listed as stable but critical.

 Detective Kurt Miller, the lead investigator in the case continued to pursue leads related to the stabbing and as a result was able to charge the below listed individual. 

Charged:

Louis Hargrove Jr.   53-year-old male

Resident of Harrisburg, PA

Currently being held in the Lancaster County Prison

As a result of the investigation, Luis Hargrove Jr. was identified as the suspect in this stabbing incident.  It was also determined by investigators that the victim and the suspect knew each other prior to the stabbing.  The stabbing had occurred in the 300 Blk S. Marshall Street, Lancaster.  Det. Miller charged Louis Hargrove Jr. with Criminal Attempt to Commit Homicide (F-1) and Aggravated Assault (F-1) on 11 October 2013 before Magisterial District Judge Kelly Ballentine.  On 17 October 2013, Hargrove was arraigned by MDJ Ballentine, who set bail at $500,000.   Hargrove Jr. has been held in the Lancaster County Prison since 21 Sept 2013 for offenses unrelated to the stabbing incident.  The victim is still receiving medical treatment because of the severity of the injuries from the stabbing.  The victim is stable and expected to recover.
