10.24.13 Shots Fired and Shooting
Shots Fired Incident:
At approximately 8:49 PM Wednesday night October 23, 2013 a patrol officer in the area of S. Ann St. and E. End Ave. heard several shots fired in the vicinity. Officers responded to the area and located evidence of numerous shots being fired in the Mifflin St. and Stevens Ave area. Detectives also responded, collected the evidence and are working the investigation. At this time there is no indication that anyone was struck by the gunfire.
At approximately 9:06 PM patrol officers responded to the 700 block of E. Fulton St. for the report of a shooting inside a residence. Upon arrival officers located a 15-year-old female suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Officers immediately began to administer first aid until medical personnel arrived. The victim was transported to Lancaster General Hospital. Upon arrival at the hospital medical personnel determined that the bullet wound was not life threatening. The victim did suffer a concussion and was transferred to Penn State Hershey Medical center for additional treatment. The victim is in stable condition.
Detectives are actively investigating this shooting and have determined that the shooting did in fact occur inside the residence. Detectives are working on positively identifying the suspect in the shooting.
There are no indications that these two shootings are in any way connected or related.
