2.13.13 Fatal Shooting
Shortly before 10:30 pm, Wednesday evening February 13th, Officers of the Lancaster City Police were dispatched to a residence on the east side of the 400 Blk N. Queen St for a report of shots being fired outside that location. Upon arrival, Officers found a subject down, on the east side of that block and this subject was subsequently conveyed to a local hospital via ambulance and taken immediately into surgery. This subject, a 17 year old Lancaster City male, was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Investigators are currently working to confirm this subject’s identity and assure that next of kin has been notified, prior to releasing this information.
Officers spoke to witnesses in the block, as well as residents of the involved address, several of which were conveyed to the Police Station, where they were interviewed by Detectives. Investigators also responded and are processing the scene at this time, as well as conducting a neighborhood canvas.
From the preliminary investigation conducted to this point, it appears as though this shooting followed an argument between the deceased and/or a group of subjects he was with, and at least one of the residents of the involved address. That the argument took place outside and that during this argument, multiple gunshots were heard, resulting in the subject going down and the police being called.
The investigation into this shooting is continuing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Lancaster City Police at 735-3300. Callers do not have to give their names to provide information.
**THE LANCASTER CITY POLICE ARE RESPECTUFLLY REQUESTING THE MEDIA TO LIMIT WHAT IS PUBLISHED TO THAT WHICH IS ON THIS NEWS RELEASE AND TO SPECIFICALLY REFRAIN FROM PUBLISHING THE NAMES OF ANY INVOLVED PARTIES AND/OR WITNESSES, SHOULD THEY BECOME KNOWN, SO AS NOT TO ENDANGER ANYONE NOR JEOPARDIZE THIS ON GOING INVESTIGATION. **
