2.15.13 Aggravated Assault Arrest

11:01 a.m. Feb. 14, 2013, Lancaster City Police officers responded to the 500 blk. of N. Franklin St. for a domestic dispute. It was determined that Messiah Burrell, a 24-year-old male who recently moved to Lancaster City from Philadelphia, assaulted his 22-year-old girlfriend (a city resident) and their 4-year-old son. Burrell picked up the child by the neck and head and threw him onto the sidewalk causing the child to strike his head and shoulder on the concrete. Burrell also choked the female victim and punched her in the face multiple times. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The child was treated for contusions and a strained neck. The 22-year-old female was treated for a broken nose and other facial injuries. Burrell was charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault, two counts of Simple Assault, Endangering the Welfare of Children, and Recklessly Endangering Another Person by Off. Michael Landis before MDJ Jimenez. He was arraigne and committed to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $250,000.00 bail.

 

All persons accused of a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty.
