3.04.13 City Police Bar Checks

This past weekend, late Friday night-Saturday morning (March 1st-2nd), members of the Lancaster City Bureau of Police teamed up with Lancaster County Probation and approximately 20 Agents from the PA State Parole and Probation Board to conduct checks of downtown drinking establishments.  State Parole Agents from Chester County, Dauphin County, York County, Berks County and Lancaster County were in attendance. During these bar checks, approximately 20 individuals were found inside these establishments, who were either on State or County Probation/Parole.  All of them were removed from the bars, some were directed to report to their case agents Monday morning for further potential action, while four of them were taken into custody that night.  Two of these individuals were remanded to temporary housing facilities per the conditions of their parole, while one of them was returned to Camp Hill State Correctional Institution. Another one of these subjects was found in possession of over 260 grams of Marijuana and in excess of $1000.00 in cash, after being detained by Parole Agents and Police, at one of the bars.  This subject was identified as….

Nixon was ultimately charged with Possession and Possession With Intent to Deliver Marijuana by Det. Michael Gerace before Magisterial District Judge Bruce Roth.  He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Sponaugle, bail was set at $10,000.00 cash and he was subsequently committed to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of bail and on a Probation Detainer. 

Lancaster City Police, State Parole and County Probation intend to continue to conduct checks of this nature in the near future.
