UPDATED INFORMATION ON ARREST (2 APRIL 13):

As the investigation into this shooting continued throughout last week, the following suspect was identified as the shooter by multiple witnesses…..

                                                                       Fidel G. Montanez, 39

                   1500 Blk Springside Dr

                   Lancaster Township

The investigation revealed that this shooting took place in the rear parking lot of an after-hours club, located at 243 W. King St, after an initial verbal altercation inside that location between two groups of people and after both of these groups were told to leave the premises.  Once outside, the victim was physically assaulted by several suspects, during which time, Montanez had gone to a vehicle parked there and retrieved a gun, firing it several times, first in the air and then several additional times at the victim and the group of people he was with, striking the victim in the leg.

As a result, Det. George Bonilla charged Montanez with Criminal Attempt(to commit Homicide, F-1), Aggravated Assault(F-1) and Recklessly Endangering Another Person(M-2) before Magisterial District Judge Bruce Roth and a Warrant was obtained for his arrest on these charges on 27 March 13.  As Detectives searched for the whereabouts of Montanez, Det. Bonilla was contacted by an Attorney representing Montanez and Montanez subsequently turned himself in at the Police Station with the Attorney yesterday, April 1st shortly after 3:30 pm, at which point he was arrested.  He was then arraigned before Sr. Magisterial District Judge Daniel Garrett, who set bail at $100,000.00 cash.  A Bail Bondsman posted bail and he was subsequently released.

As always, persons accused of crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
