26 June 2012 by Cpt. Kent Switzer

Shortly after 2:00 am today, Lancaster City Police Officers were dispatched to the City Parking Garage at the Brunswick Hotel, located in the 1st Blk E. Chestnut St, for a report of a shooting.  It was reported that an individual had been shot in the chest on the second level of this parking garage.

Officers and Detectives immediately responded to this location and arrived very quickly. As a contingent of Officers were arriving, Detective Lt. Jarrad Berkihiser and Detective Bill Breault observed a suspect attempting to flee the garage, near the entrance in the 1st Blk E. Chestnut St and they immediately were able to apprehend this suspect.  Other Officers then located the victim, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the area of the upper torso, in the stairway on the Brunswick Hotel side of the parking garage.  The victim was taken to Lancaster General Hospital and was immediately taken into surgery.

A number of witnesses were located and conveyed to the police station, where they were interviewed by Detectives.  The suspect, who was identified by several witnesses as the person responsible for this shooting, was identified as….

                   Jose Enrique Lebron-Garcia, 22(AKA: “Cachi”)

Last Known Address: 400 Blk Dauphin St.

                                                       Lancaster, Pa.

                   **Formerly from Guayama, Puerto Rico**

This suspect was subsequently arrested and conveyed to the Police Station, where he is currently being held.

Approx. 3 ½ hours later, the victim succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead at Lancaster General Hospital.  He was identified as…

                   Pablo Luis Fuentes, 28

                   400 Blk S. Lime St.

                   Lancaster, Pa.

It was determined that all of the parties involved in this shooting had been at “Club Paradise,” which is located inside the Brunswick Hotel and that the shooting took place in this stairway, after a brief argument between the suspect and the group that the victim had been leaving the hotel with.  The suspect fired multiple shots, several of which struck the victim in the upper torso, within this stairwell where the victim was located.

In addition to interviewing a number of witnesses who had been at the Brunswick Hotel and in the Parking Garage when this took place, the crime scene was also processed.  As a result of the investigation, Det. Breault is charging the suspect with Criminal Homicide before Magisterial District Judge Janice Jimenez and he will be held for arraignment.  The Lancaster City Police Detective Division worked in conjunction with the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office(Asst. District Attorney Robert Smulktis) in filing these charges.

As always, those persons accused of crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
