7.31.12 Robbery, Shots Fired, Arrest. 400 blk. N. Cherry St.

     On July 31, 2012 at 7:04 P.M. Lancaster City police officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of E. Lemon St. and N. Cherry St. Officers located a 25-year-old city man who reported that he had just been robbed. The victim told police that he was in the 100 block of E. Lemon St. when he was approached by two black males. The victim and suspects walked onto the 400 block of N. Cherry St. and at this time, one of the suspects grabbed the victim and pointed a handgun at him. This suspect then stole a small amount of cash from the victim. The second suspect then punched the victim. The suspect with the gun then hit the victim in the head with the handgun several times, causing a one inch laceration to the victim’s forehead. The suspect with the gun then fired three shots at the victim. The victim was not struck by gunfire, and did not request medical treatment for his injury.

     Almost immediately after this call was dispatched, Lancaster General Hospital security advised that they observed the suspects on surveillance video in the area of Spruce and Lime St, heading toward Park Ave. At 7:08 P.M., Off. Mike Hagen and Off. Herbert Watson observed two individuals matching the suspect descriptions in the 300 blk. of New Holland Ave. Offs. Hagen and Watson attempted to stop these individuals, who fled on foot. Off. Hagen saw the one suspect remove a handgun from his waistband as the suspect was jumping over a fence. Additional officers responding to the area and Sgt. Rich Heim located this subject in the 400 blk. New Holland Ave. and detained him. The victim of the robbery identified this subject as the individual who robbed / assaulted / shot at him. He was identified as:

Paul Edward Pilgrim Jr.  21-year-old male

200 blk. N. Franklin St.

Lancaster, PA

Pilgrim was transported to the Lancaster City Police station. Following additional investigation, he was charged with the following offenses by Det. Kurt Miller before MDJ Janice Jimenez:

Aggravated Assault

Robbery

Criminal Conspiracy to commit Robbery

Firearms not to be carried without a license

Pilgrim was arraigned and committed to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $250,000.00 bail.

The second suspect is still at large and is described as a  B/M/23-27, 5'8"-5'10", 160-200 LBS, goatee and sideburns, last seen wearing a white t-shirt with a thermal shirt underneath, black shorts, black socks, black high top sneakers.
