                             William R. Moore, Jr., 24

                             541 S. Lime Street

                             Lancaster, PA  17602

William R. Moore, Jr., who has been incarcerated in Lancaster County Prison on unrelated charges since on or about August 20, 2012, was charged today by Detective Donald Morant with Criminal Homicide before MDJ Janice Jimenez.  The charges follow an intensive and thorough investigation conducted by Detective Morant, Detective Robert Deeter, Detective Jeffrey Bell, and County Detective Joseph Hockley of the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office since the time of the infant’s death on April 12, 2011.

The investigation began on April 12, 2011, at approximately 10:39 a.m., when members of the Lancaster Bureau of Police responded with medical personnel to 731-A N. Reservoir Street in Lancaster City as a result of a 911 call for an infant that was not breathing. Despite heroic efforts by police and medical personnel, the infant, Aurora Heiney-Moore, 5 months of age, was not able to be revived and she was pronounced dead at the scene by a member of the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office at 12:25 p.m.  Present inside the apartment at the time of the infant’s demise was her natural father, William R. Moore, Jr.

Forensic Pathologist, Wayne Kenneth Ross, M.D., performed post mortem examination on the infant that ultimately resulted in a cause of death finding of traumatic asphyxia and manner of death being homicide.

Moore was interviewed  several times over the last year, and again yesterday by Detectives Morant and Hockley and as a result was charged with Criminal Homicide for the death of Aurora Heiney-Moore.  Moore is presumed innocent of Criminal Homicide until proven guilty.
