On July 14th, 2012, at approximately 2:43 am, Columbia Police Officers were dispatched to 1292 Staman's Lane in Columbia for a burglary that had just occurred.  Upon arrival, the resident told officers that she fought with a male intruder after finding him in the bottom floor living area of the split-level structure.

The resident reported she awoke at approximately 2:30 am and noticed that the front door to the home was standing open.  This alarmed her, so before investigating, she armed herself with a Swiss Army-style folding knife.  As she entered the bottom floor living area, she found a male intruder.  As the male attempted to run out of the home, a struggle ensued, and the resident was able to stab the intruder once in his upper left thigh.  The intruder was able to escape after the struggle.  Police searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.  The suspect escaped with a small amount of cash and an unknown quantity of prescription pain medication.
